I’m not sure how to give a personal update in this month’s scumletter that isn’t just straight up depressing, but I am going to try! Here is your content warning for parent death. I lost my mom earlier this month. She was my best friend and I love her so much. I’m going to write stream of consciousness a little about things she liked and things that were cool about her: 1. she was really good at wrapping presents, idk how she did it but those packages were always real crisp. She also sorted laundry in like the most fancy way ever and i shall never ever live up to that because it was intense. My mom loved gummi bears, cheese, crab cakes, baked pastas, frappe, and coffee in general. She really loved Carole King and Joan Baez. One time when i was little i found ‘santa’s wrapping paper’ in the basement and then i realized that ‘santa’ had the same handwriting as my mom…. suspicious!!!! One time when i turned 10 it was my golden birthday and my mom (and dad, but like, it was my mom) got me 10 american girl doll presents and she hid them around the house with little rhyme clues to lead me to the next one and that was the coolest present i ever got!!!! My mom used to give this look which i called ‘the look’ and it was really scary you guys, really scary. she was a cool lady and she was funny and serious and intense and gentle and kind and the best and thank you for reading this if you read it and if you skipped it i hope you had a nice time skipping it.
